Oh the places we went this month. From supporting local and many events to family fun and celebrations, we had an absolutely blast throughout April.
SUPPORTING LOCAL
We are huge “support local”-ers when it comes to food and treats. Especially when we need to bring a dish to a potluck. For Kolby’s school’s Mixed Up Luau, we brought a local Korean favorite, meat jun, from Sam’s Deli. While pricey, it is quality food you can count on and the right amount of food to share at a large gathering.
Throughout the month we got treats at some of our favorite local spots throughout the island of O`ahu.

Every Sunday, while Kendyl attended DJ school, I would head over to Nalu’s for a coffee. Sometimes, we would end up back at the shop for an early lunch. Our favorites — their acai bowl and caprese panini. I even won the local gift bag that featured a ton of Kailua businesses, including a gift card to Nalu’s. To say I was stoked would be an understatement as I am a fan of all the businesses featured in the giveaway.

FAMILY FUN
A ton of time was spent this month with aunties, uncles, and cousins. From hanging out at the pool and park dates to baseball games and dinners, we had a blast getting to spend quality time with people we love.
I attempted my first Hapalua with my niece, Cameron. She absolutely killed it, while it (the walk) tried to kill me. Super proud of us for getting out of our comfort zones and doing something we wouldn’t normally do. Apparently, we plan to do it again next year.
CELEBRATIONS
The Easter Bunnies did well this year. The OG one gave the kids baskets of wants — lemonade stand supplies for Kendyl and baseball everything for Kolby. Then our family got a sweet surprise from a neighbor bunny who scattered tons of eggs outside our door and left a gift as well. We were so taken back that a different bunny would take the time to stuff and hide so many eggs for our kids. Guess we don’t drive our neighbors as crazy as we thought.
This month we also welcomed our nephew and my godson, Hayes, to the family. I was completely taken back with such an honor as I always have viewed it as a special role. That day, I had the privilege of being mommy’s nurse, cutting Hayes umbilical cord, caring for mom and dad in recovery, and then going home to celebrate with the big brother at our family’s favorite margarita, I mean— Mexican restaurant. It was a big day and I am so grateful for the team I work with that made sure mom and baby were well taken care of!
For Nana’s birthday we celebrate at Kailua’s GOEN restaurant in the heart of the town. Her puakenikeni lei was made by us from the flowers of our aunty’s tree. We enjoyed an abundance of delicious food from sushi to pasta, but we have to admit the kids meal was the best deal of all. Super thought out and both kids enjoyed the array of food.
Every April, we attend the Iolani Fair for some good eats and time with friends. This year we were a little under the weather so once we got our fix we ended up calling it a night earlier than planned. But have no fear, we get our game fix all the time with Dave and Buster’s Unlimited Pass. If you haven’t heard of it, we highly recommend it for any family who doesn’t want to break the bank every time they go to DnBs. We usually buy the second tier card, which gets us unlimited play for 30-90 days depending on the promotion plus discounts on food and beverages (excludes alcohol).
