March flew by. It felt like a blink and yet we did a lot throughout the month, including an epic trip to Utah for spring break.
Started the month celebrating girls day. As always, Nisshodo chichi dango was a must. Located in the heart of Kalihi, this gem makes the best chichi dango and is the perfect girls day gift for all ages. We made little mochi bentos for friends, staff, and teachers in celebration.
The highlight of the month was our trip to utah. It was full with family, BYU baseball, good eats, and reconnecting with Kasey’s college friends. We were spoiled by the BYU baseball family and had a blast cheering on the Cougars for an entire series (three games) at the Y. From there we connected with family, where the kids got to hang out with their boy cousins. Then caught a professional hockey game, which was crazy cool! After that we ventured up to Tutu and Grandpa Glenn’s home and spent a couple days enjoying life on the farm.
We are so grateful for the time we got to spend with family and friends in our short time in Utah. The kids did not want to leave so naturally we are already trying to figure out when we can go back.
During Spring Break, Kendyl and her childhood bestie, Aiden, went to the Bishop Museum for some Lego fun and cultural enrichment. The kids had a blast observing the Lego art as well as creating their own structures with white Legos in the interactive area. We also attended a group session about the Hokulea in the Planetarium. Highly recommend attending a session in there. Super informative and a nice break from walking around. Then we wrapped up our time exploring the main building that is full of ancient Hawai’i artifacts and replicas.
As usual, there was a lot of baseball played as the spring manoa season kicked off. The kids getting to play on the same team is truly special (Go Manoa Mariners!) and we don’t take it for granted one bit. It’s a family affair and we love it.
Many school events took place this month at both of the kids schools so a lot of divide and conquer took place. Between the fields trips to two separate lo’i patches and special events— such as Kendyl’s hydroponics lettuce project, we made sure the kids felt the love from both parents.
