Arvo Cafe

Located in the heart of Kaka`ako surrounded by buildings and endless concrete, Arvo is a sweet escape. a charming walk-up that has an abundance of picnic tables and round tables for 2-3 people. Umbrellas strategically placed to provide shade in their open area. It is the ideal place for a meet-up with friends, a small business meeting, or even just a solo coffee date.

It is the consistency of their products and the ambiance that make this coffee shop a go-to spot. While on the pricer side, it delivers each and every time. The drinks and food come with a quaint presentation paired with deliciousness.

Every drink I have enjoyed from Arvo has been good— whether I’m sipping on a hot lavendar latte or an iced matcha. It hits the soul. But if I’m being real honest, i come for the food. My two favorites: Ricotta Toast topped with homemade ricotta, fresh berries, and drizzled with honey. Meatballs and Toast is savory and flavorful— made with local grass fed beef, fresh herbs, their ricotta and house-made marinara.

If you haven’t already tried this spot, it’s time you change that.

Holoholo Coffee

Their superpower is their drive-thru locations and the bonus is their beverages taste so darn good, you’ll get out of the car for their walk-up. Holoholo serves only on the windward side with three drive-thru locations— Keolu, Waimanalo and Kaneohe, plus their newly renovated walk-up//outdoor cafe in Kailua.

They specialize in coffee, teas, and energy drinks. While people love their easy-on-the-eye energy drinks, that’s personally not my thing though they are really photogenic. For me, it is their iced lattes with mac nut cold foam, Kukane cold brew and Hapa Lemonade that keep me coming back. I appreciate the endless amount of flavors options to add to any latte, hot or iced, depending on what you are craving.

Drive on through to experience the convenience of not getting out of your car and enjoying a much-deserved caffeinated bevy on the go. Or sip your desired drink under the plumeria tree at their outdoor cafe.

Surf Camp - Aina Haina

While it’s a newbie for me, I quickly fell for their uniqueness. Surf Camp is a sweet coffee shop that provides a full menu of drink options and an unbelievable spread of baked goods, while providing inside seating for a quick bite with friends or a little date for you, your coffee, and your current read.

The in-house baker, makes an abundance of flavorful cakes, scones, breads along side a menu of bagels, toast, and sandwiches. their black sesame latte is what keeps me coming back. I have enjoyed it iced, but I prefer it hot.

This recently discovered shop in Aina Haina, has me driving beyond my actual destination because it is worth the extra mileage. I highly encourage you to do the same.

Da Morning Grind Cafe

This corner walk-up has delicious beverages created by owner, Aubrie, who is a former player of mine from my coaching days at a local high school. It is conveniently located at the corner of South King Street in Honolulu with ample parking in the King Laundromat’s parking lot as well as street parking.

A full menu of coffee, tea, and dirty sodas gives you more options than you could ask for. Plus each month, they offer specialty drinks for you to enjoy on the go. I am more of a coffee gal, buy their refreshers with popping boba having me intrigued and a must try on my next visit.

While I have only been a few times, summer is here. More adventures with the kids to town, means a need for caffeine and delicious bevys to survive as a mom of two. My best friend is a regular and she will tell you the drinks and serve are top-notch.
