June 2026
An absolutely epic month for us— that filled our cups and left us feeling beyond stoked for the life we have and the people we have in it. Throughout the month we were consistently reminded how loved we are.
We kicked off the summer with exploration, celebration, and a whole lot of baseball. While Kolby finished up preschool, Kendyl and I explored. We laughed our way through age-appropriate hikes from the east to the south sides of our island paired with movie dates and beach days.
Then our baby of the family decided he was ready to spread his wings and graduated from Seagull School in Kailua. An absolute bittersweet moment as we said a hui hou to the teachers that helped raise both our kids for the last five years. We are forever indebted to this special place of love, growth, and learning.
Then we headed to Grams’ beach house for the weekend in celebration of Kolby’s milestone. Friends joined us for a weekend of fun, sun, yum, and chill— well sort of, since it’s hard to chill with kids. We had a blast sharing our favorite place so much so the kids didn’t want to leave and neither did the adults.
After that it was back to our regular schedule programming— baseball. The kids got to play together in their first of two summer tournaments for Team (Manoa) Nutsmugglers. Longs days at the park full of ups and downs, but the highlight was Kendyl hitting a grand slam along with two other over the fence homeruns and her brother being her biggest cheerleader.
For Father’s Day weekend, we were gifted an amazing staycation by the family I once babysat for. If you’ve been in my life for some time you know of this family and just how much they mean to me. I’m forever in awe of their endless generosity and support over the years— and now they are showering my little family with the same love they have shown me for years. I mean, what kid doesn’t love a staycation in Waikiki within walking distance of one of their go-to beaches.
The kids were fortunate enough to attend summer school for three weeks at Kainalu. Kolby did the Intro to Kindergarten class, while Kendyl got to take art and photography classes. Since it was only half of the day, the kids would either go to dad’s office, hang out with Nana, or do something with mom, like go to the movies or play pickleball at our local park.
When we could we would sneak in some beach time— we even made the spontaneous trek to town at the end of the month to watch the sunset at Kaimana Beach and made a photo session out of it.
Just as the month was winding down, Kolby kept life interesting— a trip to the ER from running into a swinging/loading bat at practice. A bunch of stitches later, he was as good as new and ready to get back to playing ball.
