I love eucalyptus. The look. The smell. Not so much the stickiness when handling it, but it’s worth it for the beauty that it creates. Oh and let’s not forget, the wonderful health benefits it provides: relaxation, respiratory relief, pain management, insect repellent, among other ways.
EUCALYPTUS ARRANGEMENTS
A few stems of eucalyptus makes the best addition to arrangements, yet a bunch of it can stand alone in all it’s glory. While I believe it absolutely shines in holiday decor, it lasts forever, making it the perfect year around home decor.
During the holidays, I like to pair red anthuriums with eucalyptus. Tropical meets forestry vibes. It is breathtaking, holiday colors, and can also make for the perfect gift.
Many people have been known to make eucalyptus bunches to hang in their bathrooms. While I have done that myself, I’ve also used the same concept to decorate my walls during the holidays.
EUCALYPTUS WREATH
I first made my first eucalyptus wreath in 2019, using Alex’s design from www.borrowingcolor.com. I loved it for so many reasons, but mainly becacuse I made it and my entry way smelled so darn good. It was simple to make, just a little sticky, but the end result was, oh, so beautiful.
I love how full and lust this wreath looked. You’d never know it was my first attempt.
My wreath was an eye-catcher and the metal bow from Target completed the beautiful door decor.
Then the pandemic happened and for some reason eucalyptus was no longer available in Hawai’i. But, after years of eucalyptus not being imported, it became available- locally grown only.
Last year I was able to make one— A little Charlie Brown-ish, yet perfect. It wasn’t as full because the store only had one bunch available, but still the wreath was very cutesy.
I made a palaka (plaid) bow with some scraps I had lying around and super glued it to the base to complete the look. My wreath complicated our family’s Jana Lam stockings and A Pineapple A Day stocking tags quite nicely, if i do say so myself.
